And We're Off!!! Another Annual Enrollment Period Gets Underway
We are officially in the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), which means it’s one of the busiest sales periods of the year for health agents, and I thought it would be a good idea to share some key tips I’ve learned over the years that I’m certain will help you create a successful AEP season.

#1: Time Management is Essential During the Annual Enrollment Period
With only 54 days available for you to review with clients their Medicare needs and make the necessary changes, you must be efficient with your time. Make every minute of the day work for you and be available for your clients consistently. Staying organized goes hand-in-hand with time management. It is important you have a plan or schedule outlined before each day to ensure you are not rushing to get enrollments submitted by December 7th, the end of AEP. Finally, be sure to make time for yourself. Your mental and physical health is critical to your success and well-being throughout this busy season.
#2 Stay Mindful of Your Supplies
If you are old school and have not embraced the use of electronic enrollment, you must make sure you have the supplies necessary to enroll your clients. You must stay ahead of your supply needs and order them far before you require them. I know that a lot of carriers have put limits on the number of supplies they are allowing agents to order at one time. This makes it even more important that we are placing orders on a more frequent
basis. Another good reminder is an inventory audit about 2-3 weeks from the end of AEP. This allows time to place orders ensuring you are not sitting there on December 7th with no enrollment kits. If you require an enrollment kit and have not received your order, please reach out to us immediately. We keep a small contingency of supplies for agents in stock.
A great solution to the lack of supplies, Electronic Enrollments! Once you try it, you will love it!
#3 Make Sure To Understand Sales & Marketing Compliance
Heading into this AEP, agents have to complete annual certifications and carrier training to ensure compliance in selling Medicare Advantage and Part D plans. Please keep in mind the rules/regulations regarding permission to contact, the scope of appointment, and marketing. I am not going to go into detail here in this article; Simply put, complete training, and follow rules!!
