Countdown to AEP
AEP is about a month away, and I thought it would be a good idea to share some key reminders to help you have a successful AEP season.
Tip #1: Time Management
With only 54 days available for you to help your client review their Medicare needs and make the needed changes, you must be efficient with your time. Make every minute of the day work for you and help make sure you are available for your clients. Staying organized goes hand in hand with time management. It is essential you have a plan or schedule for every day so you are timely towards the end of AEP to get enrollments submitted by December 7th. One final thing is to make time for yourself. Your mental and physical health is significant to your success and well-being.
Tip #2: Supplies
If you are old school and have yet to embrace the use of electronic enrollment, you must make sure you have the supplies you need to enroll your clients. You must stay ahead of your supply needs and order them before you need them. I know that a lot of carriers have put limits on the quantity of supplies they are allowing agents to order at one time, and this makes it very important that we place orders on a more frequent basis. Another good reminder is to look at your supplies 2-3 weeks from the end of AEP and place those orders to make sure you are not sitting there on December 7th and do not have the enrollment kits you need. If you need an enrollment kit and you have yet to receive your order, please reach out to us because we do try and have some supplies for agents in stock.
A great solution to the lack of supplies is to jump in with two feet and start doing electronic enrollments. Once you try it, you will love it!
Tip #3: Compliance
Heading into this, AEP agents had to do their annual certifications and carrier training to be compliant and be able to sell Medicare Advantage and Part D plans. Please keep in mind the rules regarding permission to contact, scope of appointment, and marketing rules. I am not going to go into details here, but please remember your training and follow the rules!
Tip # 4: Ask for help
Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you need anything. We are here to help with quotes, underwriting pre-screens, guidance on Medicare, plan information, and many other things. We are here to help you have the most successful AEP you can!
