Covering the Bases
Let’s Play Ball!!! That’s right, it’s time for Spring Training. Baseball is now in full swing. And with everything baseball, it’s a great way to segue into those potential sales waiting in the on-deck circle. Many of our potential clients simply don’t realize there is a missing piece in their insurance coverage, especially when it comes to business owners. In the grind of our day-to-day lives and busy schedules, people tend to forget about planning for the future or procrastinate another day while they focus on the tasks at hand. However, with every day that passes, the ability to obtain the necessary coverage can become more expensive and riskier as health issues only increase as we age. I feel our job as agents is to make sure the client (and potential clients) is set for as many of life’s foul balls as possible and can feel secure that their family and/or business will be taken care of when they move on to that Field of Dreams in the sky. There are so many products available now. It becomes a daunting task to navigate the options, as each product/rider has a specific skill set to fill that position on the client’s roster of coverage. A few quick conversations with a client can find where there are holes in the defense and potentially find a product to cover that vulnerability:
- If the client were to go on the Injured Reserve and not be able to perform at their job, is there a loss of income that needs to be sustained until they are back on the field?
- What happens if they can’t perform their daily living activities? How will they be cared for?
- Is the term coverage going to cover the client’s lifespan? Would it be better to pay a little more to have lifetime coverage at a set premium now instead of paying a higher premium when the contract ends?
- Does the company have a continuation plan if a key employee is lost, or is there a buy-sell in place to pass on the success to the next generation of players?
- After their glory days of employment are over, how do they plan to sustain their quality of living?
Our office has all these product types available and a knowledgeable staff to help you find the best fit for your team of clients. We would enjoy any opportunity you have so we can step up to the plate and show you our skill set! My wishes to all of you for a successful and profitable year; the season has already started….Play Ball!
